HOW TO MAKE ORNITHOPTER AT HOME IN VERY EASY STEPS
1. What is an Ornithopter?
An ornithopter is a flying machine that flaps its wings like a bird or insect. It’s a fun DIY project using simple materials.
2. Materials Required:
Lightweight plastic or foam sheet
Bamboo sticks or straws
Rubber bands
Tape and glue
Scissors
Paper clip
Small motor (optional for advanced version)
3. Build the Frame:
Create the main body using a straight bamboo stick (about 20 cm). Attach a horizontal stick across it to form a cross shape — this will hold the wings.
4. Make the Wings:
Cut two wing shapes from the plastic sheet. Tape them to each end of the horizontal stick. Wings should be lightweight and flexible.
5. Attach the Rubber Band Mechanism:
Twist a rubber band and attach it from the rear of the frame to a hook or paper clip at the front. Wind it up tightly—this will store energy.
6. Test and Fly:
Hold the ornithopter, wind the rubber band, and release. The wings should flap, allowing it to glide forward.
Tip: Try adjusting the wings’ angle and shape for better flight.
Caution: Use scissors carefully.
